The logistics hall before moving in

Waiblingen near Stuttgart is the home of Bosch Healthcare Solutions GmbH (BHCS). The wholly owned subsidiary company of Robert Bosch GmbH has developed networked products and services in the areas of health and medical technology since 2015.

BHCS had occupied leased spaces at the Waiblingen packaging site until 2020. But these rentals had to be vacated. In order to create new spaces for a building with offices as well as development and production areas, the vacant high-rise Wa121 at the Powertrain Solutions site in Waiblingen was upgraded. The energy supply systems were fully updated and the building was provided with a new aluminum facade and technical center on the roof. A one-story extension was also added.

The net floor area with a total size of around 7,400 m² is now being used as follows: The ground floor houses the production spaces of the Vivatmo respiratory gas analyzers as well as the building logistics, which includes the delivery area and foyer. The second floor is used as a clean room for the all-in-one Vivalytic platform with currently six production lines. In addition, it accommodates a conditioned supermarket. The Life Science Lab and various development laboratories are on the third floor. A separate water treatment system and vacuum supply with compressed air were installed for the laboratory spaces. The fourth and fifth floors are occupied
by offices. The workplace concept includes a large lounge with a kitchenette and balcony, spacious meeting rooms and smaller focus zones. There are also telephone booths, a silent room and a project space. Suspended heating and cooling ceilings provide comfortable temperature control on these floors. Last but not least, there
are workshop and archive areas in the basement, as well as changing rooms with showers. The building is supplied with heat via two combined heat pumps and chillers, which utilize the existing cooling water network. The electrical energy is supplied via a transformer station in the basement. A photovoltaic system with 164 modules at 320 watts each is installed on the roof; its total output is 52.48 kilowatt peak. The German Sustainable Building Council awarded the building the DGNB certificate in gold.
