The campus from above

The site in Bengaluru is a real gem, both in India and in the world of Bosch. A smart campus has been taking shape in the district of Adugodi since 2018. The campus is smart in more ways than one. For instance, Bosch is expanding its activities in the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). In addition to the offices of the regional headquarters, the buildings created in the second phase of construction now primarily house space for software engineers, researchers, and developers. Likewise, this Bosch campus is the first to implement 13 smart solutions, which were developed by Bosch inhouse and help significantly reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

Among other things, these solutions assist in saving large amounts of energy and water. Forgoing the need for a conventional air conditioning system already reduces energy consumption by an impressive 40 percent. The modern hybrid wastewater treatment plant requires around 70 percent less energy than a conventional one. What’s more, the majority of the site’s electricity demand is covered by the photovoltaic systems at the site and a solar power plant, which was established together with a partner. In addition, food waste from the kitchen and dining hall is processed by a biogas plant. The rainwater harvesting system means that the site is independent of the local municipal water supply for eight months of the year, benefiting people living in the region, as well. All of these solutions are managed via a central command and control center.

All four sides of the 14-story building of the regional headquarters are covered by plants.
Trees were planted between the buildings.
One of the many meeting zones

The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded the buildings in the second phase of construction a LEED Platinum-certification. The outdoor facilities also reflect the particularly climate-friendly nature of the campus. One aim was to increase the overall green cover of the campus from around one fifth to around one third. However, the sustainability concept is most visible in the 14-story building of the regional headquarters. All four sides are covered by plants – another fact that makes
the campus unique in the world of Bosch and in India.
