Milestones

The five most important things we achieved in 2023

We worked together to overcome a crisis, successfully updated our company structures, brought people together from all over the world – and completed some exceptional real estate projects. These are our highlights from the year.

We are one GR

Good things come to those who wait: In 2023, our Service unit developed into a full-fledged, independent business division. 2023 was also the year we finally completed the last of the three waves of organizational implementation. And now, we are proud to announce: We are one GR! We have managed to network all Bosch Global Real Estate sites with one another – allowing us to provide our customers with even better support. The story of our renovation project began about six years ago.

Weathering the energy crisis together

The lights suddenly went out: As the energy crisis gathered steam, GR contributed to mitigating its effects via the company properties. We identified energy-saving measures that were quickly and efficiently implemented at the sites. For example, the logo on the Bosch parking garage at the Stuttgart convention center was switched off. Incidentally, it is the second-largest logo in the world, after the Hollywood sign. The 18,000 red and white LEDs on the eight-meter-high letters and twelve-meter Bosch armature went dark. It’s a statement on the energy crisis that’s visible for miles around!

Cross-border cooperation

We also fulfilled a promise in 2023: bringing people together across national borders. To that end, we built Cluster Service teams around the globe. In these teams, GR colleagues at different sites support one another by sharing their expertise. The benefits are mutual, and work processes have also become more transparent, allowing cuts to be made where necessary.

Asia’s first platinumcertified industrial building

The best of the best: Our newest semiconductor testing center in Penang, Malaysia is the first industrial building in Asia to receive platinum certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The DGNB only awards this certification very rarely, and this is the first time it has ever been granted to a new building. Our building meets the strict criteria thanks to a wide range of environmentally friendly measures. For example, approximately 80 percent of the building’s energy is supplied by a photovoltaic system, and part of the property was rewilded and is now a rainforest.

Our events

When we get together to cooperate and exchange ideas, it’s always one of the best times of the year. The G-Retreat and Strategy Dialogue is a good example: That’s when GR managers present their goals to the members of the board of management, and together, they look ahead to the coming months and years. Or the GR Forum, our annual networking event: In 2023, around 1,000 participants gathered on location and online for a total of 14 hours of livestreams, keynotes, and workshops.
