Tradition meets Technology in Suzhou, China

Bosch opened its new base for research, development, and production in the industrial park of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, in the shortest time on October 17, 2024. The site focuses on core components for new electric vehicles and automated driving. 300 million CNY were secured as subsidies for the project.
The first construction phase included the Szh 507 reception building, the Szh 505 energy center, and the Szh 501 production building. With a production area measuring 46,000 m2 and a 7,500-m2 service wing, Szh 501 offers space for state-of-the-art production processes and associated functions.
The second construction phase, which is currently being implemented, includes a staff restaurant on site as well as two logistics halls, one of which is planned as a fully automated warehouse. Additional office and production/logistics space, a parking garage, and a central square in the area of the Szh 507 reception building are planned as part of the site development. An inviting meeting place for associates and customers is being created here. It will serve as a comfortable reception, resting, and event space. There are also plans to include traditional elements in this area.
In the first phase, local plant species were integrated, and a water area was created directly by the reception building.. The resulting visual impression is strongly reminiscent of traditional Suzhou gardens. Sustainability plays a key role at the new Suzhou site: The roofs are equipped with photovoltaic systems that deliver a capacity of 3.19 MWp, generating a large share of the energy required. Heat recovery from production processes and air-to-water heat pumps completely replace fossil fuels, while an underground rainwater system saves around 60,000 cubic meters of water per year.
The second construction phase is scheduled for completion in 2025. In Suzhou, Bosch is focusing on innovation, sustainability, and a strong connection to the local culture.
